At GRS we have seen how demand for great Compliance teams has outstripped supply, certainly at the senior level, and we have helped many clients to beef up their protection – both for their own business and licences, and for their customers:

The Compliance function within our industry used to be a fairly static affair, with the Gaming Act of 1968 and associated regulations defining what was possible, but without a huge amount of change within the department. Interpretation of the rules would evolve over time, but for most companies there wasn’t a huge amount of innovation proposed or executed, and the role was often largely making sure over-enthusiastic operational management didn’t overstep the mark.

Fast forward to today, and the Compliance function has become the great growth area of betting and gaming. The Gambling Act 2005 started the process of change, but technology and a more ubiquitous concern for both affordability and the plight of problem gamblers has expanded the compliance role into a multi-strand, highly dynamic catch-all safety net for operators and customers alike.

We understand the various elements required, from Regulatory Compliance to more traditional Risk protection, and we understand the need, generally, for a more dynamic breed of Compliance team, especially with the imminent Gambling Act review likely to unleash a wave of changes (along with the wave of new interpretations that follow) and knock on effects on LCCP and operating policies.
